Workouts
Bárbara, who is already the mother of a four-year-old boy, recalled that she was diagnosed with pre-diabetes during her first pregnancy and that running was essential for a healthier second pregnancy. "I'm more active, mainly because of running, and I've been feeling really good," she reported.
She said she maintains a regular training routine and has already participated in six running events this year alone. According to the businesswoman, the expectation is to compete in three more competitions before the birth of the baby, scheduled for September.
"During pregnancy, each step takes on even more meaning. It's not just about kilometers covered, but about health, self-care, connection with the baby and confidence in one's own body. A body that generates life is also capable of overcoming incredible challenges", he reinforced.
The businesswoman has been training in running for almost two years and, initially, followed a schedule with four weekly workouts. However, due to fatigue caused by pregnancy, she asked her coach to reduce the frequency to three times a week.
"It worked really well. I started to feel less tired and was able to complete the entire [training] schedule," she said.
Professional support
According to Bárbara, sports practice during pregnancy is closely monitored by health professionals. "My obstetrician asked me not to overdo it, to hydrate a lot and to continue my activities normally," he said.
She added that she also receives weekly monitoring from a nutritionist, with dietary control, vitamin replacement, general exams and monitoring of physical performance.
"My contraindication is in case of pain and tiredness. [I need to] respect my body above all else and its signs", he added.
