The initiative challenged participants to reflect on issues related to sustainability. Amazon Network Foundation The 2026 edition of the Conta Um Conto cultural competition reaches the final stretch, consolidating its role as an important tool to encourage reading, writing and citizenship training for young people in the North Region. Carried out by the Fundação Rede Amazônica (FRAM), with support from Colégio Lato Sensu, the project mobilized students aged 11 to 17 from the states of the Legal Amazon around the theme “The Tale, the Amazon and the 2030 Agenda”. More than stimulating literary production, the initiative challenged participants to reflect on issues related to sustainability, environmental preservation, social responsibility and sustainable development, with the Amazon as the setting and protagonist of the narratives. After registrations closed, the texts went through an evaluation process conducted by a team of educators and experts. The curatorship analyzed criteria such as suitability to the theme, creativity, originality, narrative structure and alignment with the regulation guidelines. 📲 Join the g1 AM channel on WhatsApp According to Karoline Cunha, coordinator of the High School Segment at Colégio Lato Sensu, the process took place in several stages to guarantee the quality and transparency of the selection. "Initially, we carried out a screening to check whether the texts met the requirements of the regulation. Afterwards, the stories underwent originality analyses, including checks related to plagiarism and the use of artificial intelligence. Only after these steps were the texts sent for evaluation by the curator professors", he explained. During reading of the works, the evaluators identified a strong engagement of the participants with the proposed themes. Issues related to forest preservation, the region's environmental challenges and the role of new generations were present in most of the narratives. For Portuguese language teacher Gliceriana Maciel de Morais Araújo, the experience was marked by the sensitivity and creativity of the students. "The texts demonstrated research, reflection and a lot of involvement with themes linked to the preservation of the Amazon. I was moved by the sensitivity of the participants and the way they related the region's reality to the Sustainable Development Goals. Projects like this help to form citizens who are more aware and committed to the future", he highlighted. The Writing teacher at Colégio Lato Sensu, Ângela Cláudia Virgolino da Fonseca, who worked on correcting the essays, highlighted the maturity of the students in addressing topics relevant to the region. "What caught the most attention was the presence of very current topics in practically all the newsrooms, such as sustainability, illegal mining, extreme droughts and floods, bioeconomy and environmental education. This shows that students are aware of the challenges of the Amazon and reflect on the role they can play in building a more sustainable future", he stated. Professor and curator Mirian Castro also highlighted the quality of the productions received. "We noticed a lot of creativity, well-constructed texts and very relevant reflections. Projects like this expand access to literature, culture and education, in addition to stimulating interest in themes that directly impact the future of our region", he said. This year's edition reinforced the proposal to bring literature and sustainability closer together, encouraging young people to use writing as a tool for reflection and social transformation. By relating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda with the Amazon reality, the competition strengthens youth protagonism and expands the debate on the region's challenges and potential. The winners of the 2026 edition will be announced this Thursday (18). The closing and awards ceremony will be held on July 1st, at 2pm, bringing together students, families, educators and partners to celebrate the literary talents of this edition.
