Boi-Bumbá Caprichoso announced Lup Moara as the first trans woman to defend the tuxaua item at the Parintins Festival. The visual and performance artist will debut at the Bumbódromo arena in 2026, in a milestone considered historic for the festival and for LGBTQIAPN+ representation in Amazonian popular culture.
The Tuxaua item represents leadership, strength and indigenous ancestry within the show. According to Caprichoso, Lup's choice reinforces the trajectory of the blue and white ox in valuing diversity and inclusion.
A fan of Caprichoso since childhood, Lup stated that taking on the item is a source of pride and represents a collective achievement.
"Caprichoso has always been my space of welcome, respect and belonging. Taking on this item means taking our voice, our aesthetics and our resistance to the center of the show", he said.
The artist also highlighted the significance of the achievement for the trans community.
"Being the first trans woman to take on the Tuxaua item shows that Caprichoso, once again, makes history and innovates within the Parintins Festival. It is very satisfying to be able to contribute in an even stronger way within my ox", he stated.

Trajectory at Caprichoso
Lup Moara's story with Caprichoso began in childhood, at the Escola de Arte Irmão Miguel de Pascale, known as Escolinha de Arte do boi. She was also a member of the Caprichoso Dance Corps (CDC) and participated in various cultural events on the island.
Along the way, she was Queen of Flowers in the Pastorinhas, performed in children's groups and gained prominence as Porta-Standarte and Cunhã-Poranga do Boi-Bumbá Rasgadinho, a folklore group recognized for its historical connection with the LGBTQIAPN+ community of Parintins.
Behind the scenes at Caprichoso, Lup also built a career as a costume artist. In 2018, he signed his first job in the area. Two years later, he began to work directly in the creation and production of costumes for the shows presented in the arena.
Recognized for its aesthetic innovation and appreciation of Amazonian traditions, Lup Moara now assumes one of the most symbolic items of the Parintins Festival, becoming the first trans woman to occupy the position in the history of the dispute between Caprichoso and Garantido.
