The federal government authorized this Thursday (11) the transfer of the area of ​​the old railway line of the Águas Claras branch to the city councils of Belo Horizonte and Nova Lima. The measure unlocks a stage considered fundamental for the implementation of the Railway Line Park, a project that provides a new road connection between the municipalities and leisure areas for the population. In practice, the proposal includes the construction of a 5.2-kilometer avenue along the deactivated railway. The next step will be the signing of the assignment agreement by the municipalities and, subsequently, the preparation of the works execution plan. The Railway Line Park should occupy an area of ​​around 400 thousand square meters. In addition to the new road, the project envisages the creation of a linear park with squares, ecological trails and social spaces. The proposal also aims to integrate neighborhoods such as Vila da Serra, Vale do Sereno, Jardim da Torre, Mangabeiras and Belvedere, expanding travel options between BH and Nova Lima. Package of works The Linha Férrea Park is part of a set of road interventions planned for the region. Among them is Avenida Flávio Guimarães, which will connect MG-030 and Jardim da Torre. According to the city hall, the work is close to 70% completion and should be completed by the end of this year. The construction of the Ferradura Viaduct is also planned, which will connect MG-030 to BR-356, in the direction of Anel Rodoviário, without the need to pass through the BH Shopping interchange.
