Corre de Quinta fills Studio 5 and attracts crowds to free race in Manaus A phenomenon among street runners in Manaus, Corre de Quinta gained strength and reached its 19th edition this Thursday (11). The movement brought together thousands of runners at Shopping Studio 5, South Zone of the capital of Amazonas, for the activity that mixes sport with fun and lots of music. Corre de Quinta is free and takes place every Thursday night, always in a different location in Manaus, publicized throughout the week on social media. For this edition, the location chosen was one of the most traditional shopping centers in the city. "Here in this area of the city there are many residents, they keep calling us on social media and we promptly respond. The shopping center opened its doors to serve this huge Corre de Quinta audience and we are here", explains the event's creator, Frank Parente. 📲 Join the g1 AM channel on WhatsApp Held on the eve of Valentine's Day, the edition gained a special dynamic. The runners were divided into four battalions: in the first two, there were single participants, in the last two only couples. “We’re sharing it for people who also want to have fun, have some luck, find their partner for Valentine’s Day,” Frank told the audience. Together, the runners covered a five kilometer route, which had the shopping mall as its starting and finishing point. During the journey, the group passed through Avenida Manaus, climbed the viaduct of the 40 road system and returned along Rua Luiz Chaves, on the banks of Igarapé do 40. The expectation, according to the event organizers, is for 10 thousand people to participate in this edition. Anyone who thinks you need to be an athlete to participate is mistaken. At Corre de Quinta, the proposal is simple: run, move and have fun. It was with this in mind that professor Cléia Mendes and secretary Beatriz Nascimento decided to participate in the sports movement. For the eighth time at the event, Cléia reveals that she did not practice street running until she met Corre de Quinta. Since then, he has fallen in love with the sport and even ventures into races in the city. "We started out just out of curiosity and ended up liking it, it's become our routine. Corre de Quinta brought us the race and now we run on other days and in the events that take place", he reveals. Why are thousands of people running together through the streets of Manaus at night? "I already have a training routine and every time I tried to participate in Corre it never worked, now I'm on vacation. The belly doesn't interfere with running, it's wonderful. I haven't stopped training", he said. Eight months pregnant, security guard Andressa Mendonça participated in 'Corre de Quinta' for the first time. Juan Gabriel/g1 AM How it all started Created by Frank Parente, "Corre de Quinta" emerged after informal running meetings between students at a gym. The idea, according to him, was to encourage the practice of physical activity on a day little explored. What was planned for around 20 to 50 people quickly took on a different proportion. In the first edition, approximately 300 participants signed up. The following week, the number doubled. Currently, the event has an average of 10 thousand participants each edition. Unlike traditional races, “Corre de Quinta” is not focused on performance or competition. The proposal is inclusive: everyone leaves and arrives together.
