During the agenda, the minister signed the tender notice for the reconstruction of 104 kilometers of BR-364, in the stretch between Sena Madureira and Rio Macapá. According to Santoro, the investment is part of a set of works aimed at recovering Acre's main federal highway. The minister stated at a press conference that the stretch will receive a more lasting reconstruction model to reduce the need for frequent interventions.
"This is reconstruction, not maintenance. We are adopting a definitive solution to avoid having to carry out more intense maintenance all the time," he said.
The head of the ministry also announced the completion schedule for three important works:
Extension of the Tarauacá Bridge
Reconstruction of the Airport Road, in Rio Branco
Emergency recovery of the Caeté Bridge, in Sena Madureira.
The bridge over the Caeté River, on BR-364, which connects Sena Madureira to Vale do Juruá, was closed on the 5th by the Dnit as a preventive measure after a technical inspection identified soil movement on the banks of the river.
The minister also stated that the federal government already maintains maintenance contracts on Acre's highways and that new works should be carried out over the next few months. According to him, the goal is to improve the conditions of the sections considered most critical by September this year.
"We have several points with very critical roads. We are making a plan to improve these sections and advance in the recovery of the road network", he declared.

Departure to Sena Madureira
After the agenda in the capital, the minister went to Sena Madureira to inspect the area where the Frei Paolino Baldassari Bridge is located, which collapsed over the Iaco River.
Santoro informed that he made technical teams from DNIT available to the government of Acre to assist with assessments and necessary measures after the accident.
"I made the Dnit team of engineers available to the government to assist with whatever is needed in relation to the bridge that collapsed. The federal government has qualified technical staff and is available to help with whatever solution is necessary", he stated.
The visit takes place ten days after the accident. Of the four people injured, three have already been discharged. Weverton Murieta, 34 years old, was the first to leave the hospital. Lawyer Edinei Muniz, 51 years old, was discharged last Tuesday (9).
Antônio Morais Lima Filho, 36 years old, left the Rio Branco Emergency Room on Thursday (11), after undergoing orthopedic surgery. Retired judge Edinaldo Muniz, 54 years old, remains hospitalized in the unit's ICU and is the only victim who remains hospitalized, he was extubated on Saturday (13).
Construction company's assets blocked
Last Friday (12), the Acre Court ordered the blocking of assets from Construtora Cidade, responsible for building the bridge. The measure responds to a preliminary precautionary action with a request for urgent protection presented by the Public Ministry of Acre (MP-AC) at the Civil Court of Sena Madureira.
The objective is to guarantee resources that can be used to repair the damage caused by the collapse of the structure. The blockade was set at up to R$36 million, an amount corresponding to the cost of the work.
The decision also maintained the suspension of contracts and payments from the state government to the company, a measure adopted by the State since last Saturday (6).
Furthermore, the Court ordered the preservation of documents and evidence related to the construction of the bridge, including projects, inspection reports, measurements and other technical records. The State must also present, within 15 days, the construction insurance policies and information on possible communication of the accident to the insurance company.

Another determination establishes a 30-day deadline for the presentation of the official report on the causes of the collapse, in addition to the environmental damage report prepared by the Acre Environmental Institute.
Within the same period, the construction company and the State must present a work plan with a schedule for removing the rubble and rebuilding the bridge. The government must also detail emergency actions to ensure the maintenance of Estrada Mário Lobão.
Understand the case
The Frei Paolino Baldassari Bridge was inaugurated on December 19, 2023 and was 232 meters long. Executed by the construction company Cidade Ltda, the work cost more than R$36 million. According to the Fire Department, the part of the structure that collapsed corresponds to 60% of the length, which is around 139 meters.
The Civil Police opened an investigation to determine the causes of the accident, while the Public Ministry of Acre (MP-AC) opened proceedings and requested an expert opinion from the DNIT to verify whether there were flaws in the project, the execution of the work or the materials used.

After the collapse, the Court ordered Construtora Cidade Ltda., responsible for the work, to adopt emergency measures to reduce risks to the population, under penalty of a daily fine. The company reported that it had identified cracks and movements in the ground days before the accident and recommended the closure of the bridge.
According to the construction company, the collapse was caused by the phenomenon known as "fallen lands", a process of erosion of river banks common in the Amazon region.
