Military Police captain Eládio José do Prado Neto, aged 46, died this Saturday (13) after spending almost a month in hospital following a motorcycle accident in Caldas Novas. According to the corporation, Eládio was assigned to the 4th Road Battalion of the Military Police of the State of Goiás, based in the city in the southern region of Goiás.
According to the PM, Eládio was on duty when he suffered the accident, while carrying out a motorcycle escort, on May 22nd. The soldier was rescued and was hospitalized in Goiânia, but he did not resist and died in the capital.
In a statement, the corporation reported that the captain was committed and passionate about his profession, as well as an exemplary soldier. The Road Policing Command of the Military Police of the State of Goiás wished that the soldier's trajectory would continue and expressed solidarity with the commander's family.
Captain Eládio leaves behind a wife and two daughters. The date of the wake had not been announced until the last update of this report.
'Irreparable loss'
On social media, friends and colleagues of the PM also lamented the loss and defined him as someone humble and simple.
"Captain Eládio was a friend who was with us for many years, and we are honored to have had him with us during this period," said one. "The memories remain of a humble, honest and simple person! Go with God, commander! My salute and respect", lamented another.
In 2017, the soldier was honored at Pontalina City Council with the title of honorary citizen. On social media, the city hall also published a note of condolence lamenting the captain's death, something it defined as an "irreparable loss".
