The cargo was coming from Argentina and was destined for the state of Minas Gerais. During the approach, the 28-year-old driver became nervous, according to the corporation. Therefore, the police decided to carry out an in-depth inspection of the truck and, during the search, the man confessed that he was transporting weapons. "Among the weapons, the presence of two AK-47s stands out, which is a standard infantry weapon, widely used by guerrilla groups, paramilitary forces and criminal organizations", informed the PRF. The driver was arrested for the crime of international firearms trafficking, which carries a sentence of up to 16 years in prison. He was taken to the Federal Police in Foz do Iguaçu.
