A 29-day-old baby was saved by military police after choking on Tuesday night (16), on RJ-216, in Campos dos Goytacazes, in the North of Fluminense. The child was rescued by agents from the Road Policing Command (CPRv) after the mother arrived at the corporation station asking for help.
According to the Military Police, the mother of little Maria Alice, who turns one month old this Thursday (18), sought out the police in a state of despair, reporting that her daughter was choking and unable to breathe.
The agents immediately began airway clearance maneuvers. After the procedure, the baby started breathing again and started crying, signaling that her airways had been released.

Mother sought help at a CPRv post on RJ-216

The child's mother, Viviane Nunes, said that the choking happened right after breastfeeding.
"I breastfed her and put her on my shoulder to burp. Then, she started gulping through her nose and turned red. I tried to do some maneuvers, but she tried to breathe in and couldn't. I took my other two children and went looking for help," he reported.
According to Viviane, she drove to the CPRv station with her daughter in her arms.
"When I arrived, three police officers came quickly, performed the extrication maneuver and then we went to the hospital," he said.
After initial care, mother and daughter were taken to Hospital São José, in Goitacazes, where the baby underwent a medical evaluation.
According to the Military Police, professionals from the unit highlighted that the speed of police action was essential to avoid more serious consequences.
After carrying out tests, the child was medically discharged. According to the hospital, no changes that justified hospitalization were identified.
According to the corporation, the mother thanked the police for the care and help provided to her daughter.
