The two babies were born prematurely, at just 28 weeks of gestation, which causes concern for the family, due to their gestational age, with the need for medical monitoring by a multidisciplinary team.
After birth, the twins were sent to Santa Casa de Araçatuba. The hospital informed TV TEM that the babies are stable and receiving medical care, however, the unit reinforced that there is no vacancy in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The newborns are being cared for by the Santa Casa hospital team, while they await transfer to specialized care through the Cross system.
According to the babies' father, one of them was born with complex congenital heart disease and needs support, which Santa Casa does not offer.
The request is then for a reference unit, like the one at the São José do Rio Preto Base Hospital. The other newborn is waiting in a neonatal ICU, as the beds available at Santa Casa are all occupied.
One of the newborns weighed one kilo and 195 grams at birth. According to the medical team, prematurity and low weight increase the risk of immediate cardiac intervention.
In a note, the State Department of Health (SES-SP) reported that one of the babies is presenting a complex congenital heart disease associated with extreme prematurity and, according to the state, at this moment the priority is the clinical stabilization of the neonatal ICU and the child's weight gain.
