A couple who climbed the spire of the Empire State Building in New York City without permission and performed a marriage proposal was caught by the police. According to the New York Times (NYT) on the 1st (local time), at around 12 PM on this day, they climbed to the top of the Empire State Building antenna in Manhattan, New York and unfurled a large banner. The banner had the phrase “The world knows peace when the power of love overcomes the love of power” written in white capital letters. Afterwards, they came down to the platform under the antenna structure, and one person got down on one knee and handed the other a ring, seemingly proposing marriage. The two hugged and kissed while balancing on a narrow railing, and then took a selfie. In the released video, they were dressed in black and wearing masks, but they did not appear to be wearing safety ropes. They are Russian high-altitude stunt couple Angela Nicolau (33) and Ivan Berkus (32), who climbed from the top of a building about 450 meters high.
