Teachers end strike in BH The Municipal Department of Education of Belo Horizonte published this Wednesday (17) an ordinance with changes to the 2026 school calendar due to the teachers' strike. The strike lasted 45 days and ended last Wednesday (10). The text says that schools that are unable to meet the minimum number of school days and the annual workload by December 18th must extend the school calendar until February 28th, 2027. Understand: 🔴 Common school recesses were scheduled for July 16th to 27th, October 13th to 17th and December 21st to 31st; 🟢 Now, the recesses will be on July 16th to 30th, October 13th to 17th and December 21st to 23rd. 🔴Teachers would have collective vacations from July 28th to 31st; 🟢 Now, the holidays will be from December 28th to 31st. The teachers' strike began on April 27th. Workers stopped activities to demand better working conditions and in protest against the reduction in funds allocated to the maintenance of schools and the lack of employees. The movement ended on June 10th. According to the Union of Education Workers of the Municipal Public Network of BH (Sind-Rede/BH), among the achievements of the mobilization is the guarantee that teaching and pedagogical work will be carried out exclusively by certified teachers.
