Limeira City Hall reinforced security measures in the Ponte do Esqueleto area this Wednesday (17), with the closure of irregular accesses and the complement of emergency actions. According to the city hall, a broader intervention had not been carried out before due to operational limitations on the part of the federal government, responsible for the bridge. Entering the site is a crime because the area is not accessible to the public. The city hall reported that the municipal administration was contacted by the federal government to provide support in carrying out the ban. Permanent structural works, including the construction of retaining walls, maintenance of ditches and other measures to close the area, remain the responsibility of the Union. Initiatives are being taken until a definitive solution is found to prevent access to the site. >> Follow the Agência Brasil channel on WhatsApp Related news: União discusses demolition of Ponte do Esqueleto after death of young man. In a press release, the SPU reaffirmed that the transfer of ownership of the bridge to Patrimônio da União was made official in May this year and that it never authorized any activity on the site. Meeting On Monday (15), representatives from the Union's Heritage Secretariat and the Federal Attorney General's Office (AGU) were in the interior of São Paulo and met with the mayor of Cordeirópolis, Cristina Saad, and the mayor of Limeira, Murilo Félix, and their teams. SPU confirmed that it will continue to discuss a definitive solution for the bridge with local governments. The two city halls defended the demolition of the structure owned by the Union. According to a post on the social network by the manager of Cordeirópolis, Cristina Saad, this measure must be immediate. After the meeting, Mayor Murilo Félix confirmed that the area presents risks that have been known for many years and that, even though it was closed, the construction continued to attract people. At the meeting, Limeira city hall reported that a ditch had been opened to prevent access to the site and that the ditch was closed without the knowledge of its administration.
