"The meat was stored in unsanitary conditions, with signs of the presence of rats, without an invoice and without any proof of origin," said the delegate. In addition to the meat, the police found equipment used to make the cuts. Near the property, there was also an area where remains of slaughtered animals were discarded. "There were heads, entrails, legs and other parts of the cattle that were not consumed. Everything was discarded irregularly in a forested area, which could also constitute an environmental crime," said the delegate. Health Surveillance also participated in the operation to evaluate the storage and handling conditions of the products. According to the delegate, the person responsible for the place said that the meat was for his own consumption. The police, however, are suspicious of the version and continue to investigate the case. "He claims that the meat was for personal consumption. However, the quantity found, the way it was stored and, mainly, the large volume of waste discarded in this 'animal cemetery' do not match this version. So, it was not intended for personal consumption", he stated. The investigations began after the registration of police reports about cattle theft on rural properties in Conchal and also in the district of Martim Prado, in Mogi Guaçu (SP). During the operation, two cell phones were seized and will be analyzed by the police. "We will deepen the investigations to identify not only the perpetrators of the thefts, but also understand the entire chain involved, from the origin of the animals to the buyers and the eventual sale of the meat", said the delegate. The seized material will undergo forensic examination, and the bodies involved will issue reports that will help continue the investigations.
