A 43-year-old military police officer was hospitalized after being stabbed during a fight in the Ipê neighborhood, in the Northeast Region of Belo Horizonte, this Monday (15). According to the Military Police (PM), the victim suffered a deep cut in the neck, lost a lot of blood and was taken to Hospital João XXIII, in the Center-South region of the capital. According to the police report, the 36-year-old suspect and the victim live in the same neighborhood and had previous disagreements. Witnesses reported that the two began to argue and, during the fight, the man pulled out a knife and hit the police officer in the face and neck. The victim suffered intense bleeding and needed to be rushed to the hospital. According to the doctor who treated the soldier, speed in providing assistance was essential to avoid a more serious outcome due to the large amount of blood loss. The officer remains hospitalized in stable condition and is not at risk of death. After the attack, the suspect fled the scene. Police teams searched the region and located him hiding under a bed in his own residence, approximately 200 meters from where the attack occurred. According to the corporation, the man resisted arrest and had to be restrained by police officers. The knife used as the murder weapon was seized. According to the police record, the suspect stated that he left the house armed to confront the soldier because of previous disagreements. Witnesses also said he made threats before the attack. The suspect's name was not released by authorities. The case will be investigated by the Civil Police.
