The surgery was scheduled for February, but due to overcrowding in Ukrainian hospitals, it was postponed until it was carried out recently in Kiev.
Due to the injury, Robson underwent a surgical procedure considered simple by doctors. However, the priest was diagnosed with thromboembolism, which is the obstruction of a blood vessel by a clot (thrombus) that breaks off and travels through the bloodstream. As a result, he suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest and did not survive on June 6th.

Trajectory of faith
Robson began his career as a seminarian in São José do Rio Preto and then, in 2011, migrated to Brasília (DF). He was later sent to Ukraine after a lottery for training at the Khmelnytskyi seminary, one of the country's dioceses.
The priest had the opportunity to return to Brazil in 2022, when the conflict between Ukraine and Russia began. However, the missionary decided to stay and ended up helping many refugees and victims of the war until his last days.

Legacy
Father Valdinei Lobo de Almeida, who currently serves at the Santuário das Almas Parish in Rio Preto and was a close friend of Robson, revealed to g1 that the victim left a legacy of love for others.
"He was always happy with the mission on which he was sent to evangelize people. He was very convinced of what he announced, of the mission that God had placed for him. He had that in his heart. We are in prayer for him and for the family", comments Valdinei.
