The World Cup has already started and, taking advantage of the "fever" that appears every four years, dogs and cats available for adoption will become album stickers in São José do Rio Preto. The initiative is from the Department of Animal Welfare and seeks to encourage more people to adopt a pet.
The animals participated in a photo session to create the album. Among them are Hot Wagner, described as a “center forward”, and Tordilho, who has the size of a defender. The album will feature 80 animals, including dogs and cats, and will be distributed in pet stores, feed stores and also in a digital version.

According to the Secretary of Animal Welfare, Amália Pacita, the municipality is home to around 200 animals, of which 80 are ready for adoption. “Many were rescued after being run over or mistreated,” he explained. “The album is a way to encourage responsible adoption and ensure that these pets find a family.”

Amália reinforces that animals are affectionate and need homes that offer care and affection. "They never had love, they never had a family that really liked them. They are all very loving," he said.

In addition to dogs, the album will also feature cats. “I hope they receive a family that will adopt them and give them lots of affection,” said Amália. The expectation is that the initiative will help reduce the number of abandoned animals in the city.
“Adopting is a way of offering affection and companionship, as well as helping to combat abandonment”, concludes the secretary.
