Boy goes viral singing forró on social media
A remote control transformed into a microphone, the living room coffee table as a stage and a passion for music that emerged in the first months of his life. This is how Miguel da Silva Medeiros, known on social media as Miguelzinho, conquered the internet and became one of the most popular children's faces on digital platforms in Brazil.
Born in Patos, in the Sertão da Paraíba, Miguel went viral at the age of 2 when he appeared singing complete songs by forró and piseiro artists. The video that changed the family's routine was recorded spontaneously by the mother, Michelly Medeiros, during a meeting with friends on a farm.
According to her, the boy started singing the song “Meu Mel”, a hit by Zé Vaqueiro, and attracted attention due to his ease in memorizing the lyrics even though he was still very young.
"I simply recorded it and posted it. The next day, when I woke up, Instagram was crazy. The number of followers had gone from around 500 to almost 50 thousand overnight", recalls the mother.
The repercussion drew attention because Miguel was able to perform the complete song at a stage in childhood when many children are still developing speech. According to the family, his interest in music arose even earlier.
Michelly says that, at six months of age, her son was already fascinated by musical instruments, especially the tambourine, which was his first instrument.
"He always showed a lot of interest in music. All he had to do was listen once or twice and he would already have the songs memorized. Since he was a baby, we could tell that he had a very strong connection with it", he says.

Video about couscous increased in popularity
As followers grew, videos began to be published frequently. One of the most memorable moments in Miguel's digital career happened with a video recorded in the family's kitchen, with the boy asking how long it would take for the couscous to be ready.
The post went viral and reached millions of views, causing many people to call the boy “couscous boy”.
"I posted it without imagining it would have that repercussion. People still remember this video to this day", says Michelly.
The success on the networks took Miguel to television programs and expanded his visibility in different regions of the country. The rapid exposure, however, required the family to adapt.
"It all happened very quickly. In the beginning it was difficult because he was very small. People recognized Miguel anywhere and wanted to take photos. Today he deals with it better", says his mother.

Over the last few years, the boy's videos from Paraíba have attracted the attention of several Brazilian artists.
Among the names that have already interacted with Miguel's publications are Wesley Safadão, Gusttavo Lima, Léo Santana, Zé Vaqueiro, João Gomes, Fafá de Belém and the singer from Paraíba Agnes Nunes.
The family states that they were surprised by the recognition of the artists, although Miguel still does not fully understand the extent of the fame he has achieved.
“He doesn't really understand the extent of it all yet, but we were very surprised when artists like Wesley Safadão, Gusttavo Lima and Léo Santana noticed his videos”, says Michelly.
In 2024, the boy also had the opportunity to go on stage during a Zé Vaqueiro show held at São João de Patos.

In addition to singing, Miguel also showed an interest in learning musical instruments. According to his mother, he took keyboard, guitar and accordion lessons, but is currently not attending courses.
Even without regular classes, the family claims that the boy continues to show enthusiasm for music and instruments. "It's what he really likes. We've tried introducing other sports and activities, but music is what really catches his attention", says Michelly.
Today, at 5 years old, Miguel has around 1 million followers on Instagram. One of the most popular videos on the profile has over 10.5 million views, showing the boy performing the song “Boate Azul”.
Despite their fame on social media, their routine continues to be marked by typical childhood games. When asked about his favorite game, he answers without hesitation: “tag-tag”.
His favorite song remains the same that helped make him nationally known: “Meu Mel”, by Zé Vaqueiro.
And when he talks about what he feels when recording the videos that have won over millions of people, Miguel summarizes in a few words the reason for such success:
“When I'm recording my videos I feel very happy, because I love music.”
For the family, it is precisely this spontaneous enthusiasm that explains the public's affection. More than numbers, followers and views, Miguel continues doing what he loves most: singing.
