Residents found the farmer's body at the back of the house where he lived, at kilometer 17 of Vicinal 2. The crime scene showed signs of "extreme violence" before the execution, according to Caracaraí's chief police officer, Bruno Gabriel Bezerra Costa.
"The residence was completely overturned, there was a lot of blood spread across the floor and the victim's cell phone was found destroyed inside the house. The signs pointed to an intense physical struggle before the execution", he reported.
Suspect lied in testimony
The investigation reconstructed the last moments of Dione Tavares. The night before the crime, the farmer was drinking at home with the suspect and two other people. The suspect remained at the scene during the early hours of the morning, the period estimated for his death.
During interrogation last Wednesday (10), the young man claimed that he left at the beginning of the night, but witness statements attested that he was alone with the victim in the early hours of the crime.
Family members of the person being investigated also reported to the Civil Police that the young man admitted to the murder in conversations shortly after the incident. Furthermore, searches showed that the suspect fled the region shortly after the crime and was not located at the address where he usually stayed.
“We reconstructed the entire chronology of the facts, compared testimonies, analyzed the inconsistencies presented by the person being investigated and gathered important testimonies that allowed us to clarify the authorship of the crime", concluded the delegate.
The police are awaiting the conclusion of the expert reports requested from the Institute of Criminalistics and the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML), in addition to carrying out three additional statements to send the investigation to the Judiciary and the Public Ministry (MP) of Roraima.
