The trees belonged to an area of ​​secondary vegetation in the Atlantic Forest biome, considered to be in the initial stage of regeneration. The police made contact with the owner of the property who, when asked about the intervention in the forest, confirmed that he ordered the service and justified that he had even hired a company specialized in the sector to carry out the removal work. However, he admitted that he did not have any authorization or permit issued by the municipality or state environmental agencies to validate the cut. Given the lack of legal documentation for the exploitation of native vegetation, he received an Environmental Infraction Notice (AIA). The Environmental Police informed that the incident will be formally reported to the Presidente Prudente Civil Police Station and the person involved will now be criminally liable for the act.
