Thai Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati REUTERS Princess Bajrakitiyabha, eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand, died at the age of 47 after almost four years in a coma, the royal palace said in a statement this Friday (Thursday evening, 11, in Brasília). Bajrakitiyabha was hospitalized in December 2022 after collapsing while walking her pet dogs, due to heart problems and other infections. She has remained in a coma since then. As the eldest daughter, she was heir presumptive to the Thai throne. After years of treatment, doctors discovered, in April 2026, a stomach infection that led to intestinal inflammation, causing a drop in blood pressure and cardiac arrhythmia. In May, the royal palace announced the worsening of the princess's health. She was given medication and medical devices were used to help her lungs and kidneys, but her condition continued to deteriorate, the palace said, adding that doctors would continue to closely monitor her condition and provide further treatment. Last year, the influential Queen Mother of Thailand died at the age of 93.
