In May of that year, the DHPP arrested three suspects involved in the case. At the time, police reported that there was evidence that the young man had been murdered.
During the trial, the jurors understood that Mariana participated in the murder and that the crime was committed for a base reason and with the use of dissimulation. They, however, concluded that she had a minor role in the case.
The accused was also charged with concealment of a corpse and criminal organization, but was acquitted of these charges. The jurors understood that she did not participate in hiding the body and was not part of the criminal group being investigated.
