Two men, aged 32 and 29, died in an accident this Thursday morning (11) on BR-354, in Formiga. According to the Military Highway Police (PMRv), the crash occurred at around 6:55 am, at km 517 of the highway, and involved the car the victims were in and a trailer.
According to information from the Military Highway Police, the driver of the vehicle, aged 32, and the passenger, aged 29, died at the scene. The victims were trapped in the wreckage and were removed by the Fire Department.

Truck involved in crash that killed two people in Formiga

According to the 35-year-old driver of the truck, it was raining at the time of the accident. He stated that he was heading towards Candeias a Formiga when he came across the passenger car traveling at high speed and out of control in the opposite lane.
Upon realizing the situation, he tried to avoid the collision, directing the trailer to the shoulder and off the road. However, the car hit the cabin head-on.
After the impact, the vehicle returned to the road and stopped on the carriageway.
The area was isolated for the work of the Civil Police's technical expertise, which will investigate the causes of the accident.

The Fire Department extricated the victims, in addition to cleaning the track and applying sawdust to the area to prevent further accidents.
After forensic procedures, the bodies and belongings of the victims were sent to the funeral home on duty. The car was removed by an accredited tow truck, while the trailer was released to the driver.
During the response to the incident, traffic on BR-354 operated on a "stop and go" system, with partial closures until the work of the rescue and forensic teams was completed.
