Dmae Uberlândia Daniela Nogueira/g1 A server at the Uberlândia Municipal Department of Water and Sewage (Dmae) was fired for presenting a false medical certificate to justify absence from work. According to the Municipality, the hospital in Araguari indicated as issuing the document informed the City of Uberlândia that there was no record of the employee's attendance on the date indicated in the certificate. The authority's decision was published in the Municipality's Official Gazette (DOM) on Wednesday (10). His dismissal was published in the same edition. ✅ Click here to follow the g1 Triângulo channel on WhatsApp According to the publication, the case began with an internal communication that raised suspicions about the authenticity of the certificate presented by the employee, who held the position of hydrometrist - a professional responsible for installing, testing, changing, inspecting and reading hydrometers (water meters). "The conduct investigated is highly serious, as the medical certificate, when presented to the Public Administration, does not have a merely private purpose. It is a document capable of producing concrete functional effects, especially regarding the justification for absence from work, frequency control and the regularity of the employee's functional life", stated the general director of Dmae, Rodrigo Sávio Couto de Lacerda, in the decision. Investigation confirmed irregularity During the investigation, the responsible committee carried out a series of steps, analyzing the documents presented by the server, consulting the human resources area, checking certificate reports and direct contact with the Sagrada Família University Hospital (HUSF), in Araguari. In an official response to Uberlândia City Hall, the hospital reported that there was no record of the server's attendance on the date indicated in the certificate, which compromised the authenticity of the document. Faced with the inconsistency, the city hall considered both the materiality and the authorship of the irregularity proven, as the server himself presented the document to Dmae to justify the absence. Server did not present defense The server was notified, participated in the instruction and gave a personal statement. However, after being formally indicted, in March 2026, he did not present a defense. Despite this, according to the administrative decision, the absence of a demonstration was not the only factor considered. The commission highlighted that the body of evidence remained consistent, especially through direct confirmation from the hospital. "The server failed to present any element capable of deconstituting the documentation produced in the case, especially the official information provided by the hospital institution indicated as issuing the certificate. Thus, the body of evidence formed during the investigation remained intact, especially regarding the discrepancy between the document presented and the hospital's official records", informed Lacerda in the decision. Case may have criminal ramifications In addition to the administrative punishment, the City of Uberlândia ordered the case to be sent to the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais (MPMG). The objective is to analyze the possible occurrence of the crime of using a false document, provided for in the Penal Code. According to the decision, the certificate was used with the intention of producing functional effects, which reinforces the possibility of liability also in the criminal sphere.
