A man was shot during a police approach on Tuesday night (9), in Paraisópolis, south of the capital of São Paulo. Residents of the community reported fear and apprehension due to the Military Police's action at the site, which used stun bombs and fired shots. “Tactical Force teams from the 16th Metropolitan Battalion were carrying out patrols in the community when they tried to approach a suspect, who shot at the police and tried to escape, according to the incident record”, says a note from the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP). The ministry adds that there was an arrest for drug trafficking and illegal possession of a firearm. “The man was hit after police intervention and taken to Campo Limpo Hospital, where he remains hospitalized under police escort,” added the ministry. According to the text, after the incident, police teams were attacked with stones and fireworks and two suspects, on a motorcycle, shot at a vehicle. A bus traveling through the region was hit by gunfire, but no one was injured. Videos posted on social media show around 15 police officers advancing along a community road, with shields, followed by a police car. In another image, it is possible to identify four agents shooting in the direction where some fireworks exploded. The case was presented to the 89th Police District. "The body cameras of the police officers on duty recorded the incident. Investigations continue to identify and locate the others involved in the shooting at the police teams and the damage to the collective. Policing continues to be reinforced in the region", explained the secretariat.
