City councilor in the south of Minas denounces transphobic attacks on social media A councilor from Santo Antônio do Amparo, in the south of Minas, was the target of transphobic attacks on social media last Saturday (6). The offenses were made in a post by the parliamentarian herself, Marcella Lins (PSD), on Facebook, around 1 pm. 📲 Follow the g1 Sul de Minas page on Instagram The comments were published by a profile identified as “Tião Paulo”. In the messages, the user used pejorative terms to refer to the councilor and made offensive accusations. In one of the comments, he stated: “We were the ones who voted for the Chamber of Deputies, and not for the Traveco City Council”. In another, he wrote: "A transvestite welcoming a minor into the office. It's really for a cabaret, lol." According to the councilor, she has no knowledge of the identity of the person responsible for the profile or possible motivations for the messages. This is the second episode of transphobic attacks suffered by the parliamentarian on social media. Police investigate transphobic attacks against Santo Antônio do Amparo councilor In a statement, the Santo Antônio do Amparo City Council repudiated the insults directed at the councilor and stated that it will not tolerate any attempt at intimidation, embarrassment or violence against members of the Legislature. The City Hall also spoke out, declaring solidarity with the parliamentarian. Regarding the case, the Civil Police reported that they opened an investigation to investigate the facts and that other information will be released in due course.
