The incidents were recorded in different regions of the state and involved head-on crashes, rollovers and leaving the road. The accidents occurred on highways BR-163, BR-364, MT-100, MT-240, MT-325 and MT-358. In addition to the deaths, other people were injured and required medical attention.
The causes of accidents are investigated by the authorities.
MT-358
Accident between three vehicles leaves six dead and two injured on MT-358
Six people died, including two children, and two others were injured in an accident involving three vehicles on the MT-358, between Nova Olímpia and Barra do Bugres, on Friday (5). According to the Civil Police, the crash was caused by an unsuccessful overtaking attempt.
Among the victims is the professor at the State University of Mato Grosso (Unemat), Vitérico Jabur Maluf, aged 65.

Three people died after a crash between a car and a motorcycle on the MT-240, near the entrance to Nortelândia, this Saturday (6). Among the victims is Ana Caroline Santana de Oliveira, 28 years old, who was pregnant.
According to the Military Police, the car had hit the back of the motorcycle, and the two vehicles were traveling in the Diamantino–Nortelândia direction. The motorcycle was thrown off the road and got stuck in a wire fence on the side of the highway.

Alan Citadella, aged 40, died in a traffic accident on BR-163, in Sorriso (MT)

Businessman Alan Citadella, aged 40, died after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a road sign on BR-163, in Sorriso, this Sunday (7). Fire Department teams provided first aid and tried to revive him, but he succumbed to his injuries.
The Nova Rota do Oeste dealership, responsible for managing the stretch, reported that preliminary information indicates that the victim lost control of the high-displacement motorcycle, left the road and crashed into the sign.
MT-325
One of the victims was rescued, but did not survive

Two drivers died after a head-on collision between two cars on the MT-325, in Alta Floresta, on Sunday night (7). Anderson José de Almeida Lage, aged 40, died at the scene. Ronaldo Dias da Silva, 35, was rescued and taken to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.
According to the police, Anderson was driving a car in the direction of Alta Floresta, while Ronaldo was driving another car in the opposite direction. Then, the two vehicles collided head-on.
BR-364
In the images released of the accident, it is possible to see the couple's car destroyed after the crash.

An elderly couple died after a car was involved in a collision with two trucks on BR-364, in Pedra Preta, this Monday (8). The victims, a 69-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman, were in the car and died at the scene.
One of the truck drivers suffered minor injuries and the other was unharmed. Breathalyzer tests carried out on drivers of cargo vehicles yielded negative results for alcohol consumption.
MT-100
Inside the car, officers found several beer cans.

One person died and others were injured after a truck overturned on the MT-100, in Pontal do Araguaia, this Monday (8). According to the Military Police, the vehicle was found on the side of the highway with several cans of alcoholic beverages inside. One of the victims reported that the group had consumed alcohol at a gas station before continuing their journey.
Statistics in the state
Mato Grosso recorded 333 traffic deaths between January and April 2026, according to data from the National Public Security Information System (Sinesp).
The month with the highest number of victims was February, with 93 deaths. Next come January and April, both with 82 records. See below how many deaths per month the state has recorded in the last five years:
Statistics show that men represent the majority of victims. Of the 333 deaths recorded in the period, 272 were men and 61 women, which corresponds to around 81% of cases.
Among the municipalities with the most traffic incidents are Cuiabá, Sinop, Várzea Grande, Rondonópolis and Tangará da Serra.
