Police officers who were supposed to fight drug trafficking negotiated drugs with criminal factions, diverted seizures from the police station and guided criminals to escape justice, recordings obtained exclusively by Fantástico show.
Videos and audios show conversations in which police officers treat illegal trade as a business activity. The scheme led to the arrest of a delegate and two investigators from the Paraíba Civil Police last Tuesday (2).
One of the most recent recordings shows investigator Everton Aires, known as Bomba, summarizing the logic that guided the group. "It's a game, my son, it's a game. This is business, this isn't personal, it's business."
In another record, he compares trafficking to a common business. "It's the same as selling anything else. Only, instead of selling watches, you're selling drugs."

The investigation showed that, in the last five years, Bomba received more than R$4 million in his accounts, an amount incompatible with his salary of around R$8,500. The amount would have been obtained from the resale of cocaine, crack and skunk seized in police operations.
"I've been taking both hormones and supplements since 2007. The 'anabols' [anabolic steroids] leave me more than my state salary. The police pay a lot," Bomba said in one of the audios.
The statements contrast with the speech that the investigator maintained publicly. “We have to act within the law because we are not a militia,” said the investigator in a podcast.
He also stated that police officers know the criminals' routine in detail. "We know the bums, the bums' mother, the bum's brother, the bum's grandmother, where he lived, where he lives, we know everything."
But the Public Ministry and the Civil Police claim that Bomba knew the criminals in another way: as the leader of a gang that did business with drug traffickers. "The guy who sells the most here is me. If I have to support myself just with my police salary, it's not possible," Bomba said in an audio.
Another audio shows Bomba mentioning a contact to sell drugs to the criminal faction Comando Vermelho.

Gang protected fugitives, says investigation
Everton Aires, the Bomba, is not the only one being investigated. Other suspects are investigator Eduardo Jorge, known as Mão Branca, who was honored at the Legislative Assembly of Paraíba for his "services rendered", and delegate Braz Morroni, known as Braz.
The investigation began in May 2025, after a drug dealer accused civil police officers of stealing a load of drugs. The Civil Police concluded that the drugs taken from criminals were not sent in their entirety for legal proceedings, but were resold to other traffickers.
The three police officers negotiated with at least four criminals and protected fugitives by warning them of operations in advance.

Among the beneficiaries would be José Alexandrino Júnior Lira, known as Júnior Lira and investigated for participating in attacks by the so-called Novo Cangaço against banks and armored vehicles in the Northeast.
In a recording, Lira states that she had the support of a police officer to sell drugs. In another conversation, he reports that he received an offer of help to expand sales to Mossoró (RN).
"The fact that they are agents of the State gives those people the power of those who are there, aware, and truly believing that they are shielded. It is something very serious and needs to be fought with all force," said the attorney general of Paraíba.

The operation carried out on Tuesday by Gaeco and the Civil Police arrested nine people, including Bomba, Mão Branca and Braz. The defenses deny irregularities. Bomba's lawyer stated that due legal process has been established and that the police officer does not accept the accusations.
Mão Branca's lawyer said that it is not credible that police officers could be openly negotiating drugs and that we could be facing a reputational murder case.
Braz's lawyer maintains that there is nothing that exposes the police officer's conscious participation in the facts investigated.
Júnior Lira, suspected of being part of Novo Cangaço, was also arrested. His defense said that his "innocence will be demonstrated" and that he is "the target of a police chase".
