In less than two minutes, in a symbolic vote, the plenary of the Federal Senate approved, last Tuesday (2), the draft legislative decree (PDL) that suspends the regulation for legal abortion of minors. In practice, the PDL revokes the effects of a resolution from the National Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (Conanda) and can make legal abortion difficult in cases provided for by law, anencephalic fetus, risk to the pregnant woman's life and pregnancy resulting from sexual violence. As it was already approved by the Chamber of Deputies in November 2025, the proposal is already valid. In this episode, Natuza Nery interviews two guests. First, she talks to obstetrician Olímpio Barbosa de Moraes Filho, who explains how the health network provides services to girls who have the right to legal abortion – and explains in what physical and emotional conditions they arrive at the office. Afterwards, Natuza speaks with jurist Luciana Temer, who analyzes the text approved by Congress and compares Brazilian legislation to that of other countries. Guests: Olímpio Barbosa de Moraes Filho, physician director of the Amaury de Medeiros Integrated Health Center (Cisam), in Recife, and professor at the University of Pernambuco; and Luciana Temer, lawyer, professor at the PUC-SP law school and president of Instituto Liberta. The O Assunto podcast is produced by: Luiz Felipe Silva, Sarah Resende, Carlos Catelan, Luiz Gabriel Franco, Juliene Moretti, Stéphanie Nascimento and Guilherme Gama. Presentation: Natuza Nery.
