A 53-year-old man was rescued by the Fire Department this Sunday morning (7) after suffering a dislocated shoulder during a climbing activity in a mountain area in Cosme Velho, in the South Zone of Rio.
The Humaitá and Alto da Boa Vista barracks were called at around 9:30 am for the incident. According to the corporation, the victim was unable to leave the area on his own due to the injury and access difficulties in the region.
The operation mobilized soldiers from the 1st Military Firefighter Group (Humaitá), with support from the 1st Forestry and Environmental Relief Group (GSFMA), specialized in rescues in forest and mountain areas, as well as an aircraft from the Air Operations Group (GOA).

Due to the characteristics of the terrain and the need for specific rescue techniques at height, firefighters mounted an integrated operation to safely remove the victim.
After being stabilized by rescue teams, the man was transported by helicopter to the GOA base, in Lagoa. Then, a corporation ambulance took him to the Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital, in Gávea.
The victim's health status was not reported.
