The mother of baby José Artur, who has been missing since March 26 in Eldorado do Carajás, in the southeast of Pará, published an open letter on social media in which she makes an emotional appeal and asks: "Come back, son". The case is still being investigated.
"Longing is a knife that cuts every day. But I lift this knife in the form of prayer," she wrote.
In the emotional post, Artur's mother says that her son is "a boy with big eyes and a sweet smile" and asks: "Where are you, my son? Who is taking care of you? Who is holding you when you cry at night looking for mom?"

The mother also described objects that remain in the house as signs of absence. "Your motorcycle is parked. Your shark outfit is in storage. The TV is still showing 'The Little Duck Who Was Green', but you're not here to watch it."
One of the suspicions considered by the police is that the child was taken. The mother wrote directly to whoever could take the child. "For those who took my son: You are looking at a photo of a baby. A baby who has a mother, who has a lap, who has a home. (...) Give me back my José Artur."
Understand the case
Two months after José Artur's disappearance, the Civil Police reported that they are continuing to investigate the case and that "they are in the analysis phase of the data extracted" from cell phones seized in April.
"The child disappeared on the night of March 26th while playing with his cousins outside the residence where he lived, in a rural area," according to the police.
Since then, searches have been carried out with firefighters, local residents, sniffer dogs and even drones and divers, but no trace of the child has been found.
In addition to seized cell phones, more than 25 people were interviewed during the investigations and two suspects were detained.
José Arthur lived with his family in a house in Vila Peruana, close to the Lourival Santana Settlement, in the rural area of Eldorado do Carajás, a city 650 km away from Belém.
