A visitor gave birth inside the Dourados State Penitentiary (PED), in Mato Grosso do Sul, on Saturday afternoon (6), after going into labor while still in the unit. The birth took place in an emergency and was carried out by female criminal police officers, before the arrival of the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU).
The case occurred at around 3:35 pm, when employees were informed that the woman was leaving the place after her gestational waters broke. A wheelchair was used to assist with movement, and SAMU was called immediately.

However, at the unit's main entrance, the situation evolved quickly. With no time to wait for medical care, the criminal police officers who were on duty delivered the baby on site.

The baby was born at 3:45 pm, inside the prison unit. Shortly after birth, mother and newborn received initial care from the staff until the rescue team arrived.
The two were then taken to a hospital, where they continued medical care.
