Children and adolescents are now guaranteed, by law, access to mental health programs in the Unified Health System (SUS). The measure is provided for in Law No. 15,413, which amends the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA). The new legislation, published in the Official Gazette of the Union, includes a specific provision in the ECA that ensures the provision of prevention and treatment actions for mental health problems aimed at children and young people.
