A battle over ‘self-politics’ took place between the party candidates running for the Democratic Party of Korea’s August 17th National Convention. When former Prime Minister Kim Min-seok criticized former leader Chung Cheong-rae in declaring his candidacy the previous day (the 6th), saying, “Over the past year, the harmful effects of his own politics have thrown the party-government cooperation into confusion,” former Prime Minister Chung responded on the 7th, saying, “The Prime Minister caused a stir by making ‘party leader romantic’ remarks that did not fit the ‘TPO (time, place, situation)’, which is a representative example of self-politics.” On this day, former leader Jeong said on Facebook, “He is actually pursuing his own politics,” and put former Prime Minister Kim’s remark about his “romantic dream of becoming party leader” on the chopping board. When former Prime Minister Kim was asked about the possibility of running for the National Convention this February, he defined his politics as saying, “(Party leader) is a person who grew up in the Democratic Party and it is a politician’s dream.” In response, former Prime Minister Kim met with reporters and said, “It is time to discuss and for party members to evaluate which are the harmful effects of his politics that have really caused difficulties for our party.” Former Prime Minister Kim 12·
