An international organization formed by the three countries has extended its contract with a joint venture company that will be responsible for the design of the next generation fighter aircraft to be jointly developed by Japan, the United Kingdom, and Italy until the end of next year. There were concerns that the UK's financial difficulties would affect the plan, but with this contract, it is expected that movement toward deployment in 2035 will get underway in earnest.
