"The elections in Brazil are Brazil's problem, just as the American elections are their problem and not my problem. The only thing I want is respect for Brazil, just as I have for the United States", he added.
In a press conference after the end of the G7 Summit, in Évian, France, Lula said that, if Trump knows Brazil due to the relationship he has with the Bolsonaro family, he does not know the country.
"He has the right to have his electoral preferences, his ideological preferences. I just hope that he doesn't violate the code of ethics among nations that want to be respected in their sovereignty. I just hope that," he concluded.

Earlier, also in a press conference at the event, Trump classified Brazil as a “a little politically dangerous” country and cited the conviction of Eduardo Bolsonaro in the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
"They arrested him or want to arrest him. They are plotting something to get him arrested. They play very hard. But no one plays harder than the United States," he said.
The former federal deputy was sentenced to four years and two months in prison, in a semi-open regime, for the crime of coercion during the process.
He was found guilty of acting in Washington in favor of the United States' tariff against Brazilian exports, to intimidate the Supreme Court and try to avoid the conviction of his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro, for the attempted coup d'état after the 2022 elections.
