The Public Ministry of the State of Piauí (MPPI) warned, this Wednesday (17), about an attempted coup in which criminals are sending false emails posing as prosecutors to deceive the population.
According to the agency, messages sent via the email address "[email protected]" were identified, allegedly in the name of a Teresina Criminal Justice Prosecutor's Office. In the emails, recipients are instructed to confirm via an electronic procedure.

The MPPI reported that the address used by the scammers is not part of the institution's official communication channels and that the messages are fraudulent in nature.
In view of the situation, the Public Prosecutor's Office advises that the population should be extra careful when receiving communications of this type and always check the authenticity of the information before accessing links, providing personal data or carrying out any requested procedure.

The body also recommends that citizens be wary of unexpected messages and seek confirmation directly on official MPPI channels in case of doubt.
According to the Public Ministry, the origin of the fraudulent emails is being investigated. The organization stated that it will take the appropriate measures to identify those responsible for the coup and promote accountability for those involved.
