The Civil Defense of the State of São Paulo issued an alert for the sharp drop in temperatures in the coming days and reported that the state government will activate the Solidarity Shelter at Pedro II Station, on Metro Line 3-Red, in the central region of the capital.
The action will be carried out between the nights of this Wednesday (17th) and Friday (19th), with emergency shelter for homeless people during the most intense cold period.
According to the Civil Defense Emergency Management Center (CGE), a mass of cold air should cause a significant drop in temperatures in several regions of the state, mainly between Thursday (18) and Friday (19).
In the capital of São Paulo, the forecast is for a minimum temperature of 9°C in the early hours of Thursday, according to Civil Defense.
During the operation of the Solidarity Shelter, mattresses, blankets, food and shelter will be offered. People accompanied by pets will also be able to use the space, and pets will receive appropriate care.
When leaving the shelter in the morning, those welcomed will receive a voucher for breakfast at the Bom Prato restaurant on Rua 25 de Março.
According to Civil Defense, minimum temperatures are expected to rise again from Saturday (20) and remain above 10°C throughout the metropolitan region of São Paulo.
