Environmental crime
With the arrival of the June festivals, the illegal release of balloons increases, a practice that is prohibited by law.
June hot air balloons, which are flammable and unmanned, can cause fires in vegetation, homes and the power grid when they fall, especially in dry weather.
Another threat is to civil aviation. Radars are often unable to spot balloons due to weather conditions, increasing the risk of collisions with planes.
Anyone caught manufacturing, selling, transporting or releasing balloons can be punished with one to three years in prison. Additionally, you can be fined R$500 for each balloon seized.
