An operation by the Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (Gaeco) preventively arrested seven people on suspicion of being part of the criminal organization Comando Vermelho this Tuesday (16) in Rio Branco and Sena Madureira.
According to Gaeco's deputy coordinator, prosecutor Júlio Cesar Medeiros, preventive arrest warrants were also served against five people who were already in the Evaristo Moraes prison, in Sena Madureira.

"There were 12 preventive arrests of people who were from the Red Command. Narcotics, money and cell phones were seized," he stated.

According to the Public Ministry, the arrests are part of an investigation that gave rise to the action called Operation Alvorada. The targets are suspected of making financial transfers and distributing drugs on behalf of the faction.

Some of the prisoners are also identified by investigations as leaders of the criminal group.
"These Gaeco operations, in partnership with the PM-AC, are extremely important for maintaining public security in society, since factions with a leadership role in the criminal organization were arrested, as well as members destined to commit robbery, drug trafficking and homicide", declared the prosecutor.
The operation also seized drugs, money and cell phones.
