The Civil Police are investigating a possible fraud scheme in the sale of registrations for a race held on Sunday (14). According to reports, more than 400 places had been sold irregularly, leaving participants without access to the event and without refunds.

The complaints came from residents of Varginha and the neighboring city of Campanha, who claim to have purchased registrations for R$89.90 from a person who presented themselves as an intermediary for the test. Many only discovered on the day of the event that they were not properly registered.
According to delegate Cristiano Silva, the Civil Police became aware of the case the morning after the event and opened an investigation to investigate suspicion of embezzlement.
“Some runners contacted the police station reporting that they had purchased a ticket to participate in the event by paying the amount of R$89.90 from the person under investigation who pretended to be an intermediary for the event and that they were getting it at a more affordable, promotional price,” he explained.

To date, according to the delegate, 38 victims have already been formally identified, with losses exceeding R$4,000.
“She received this amount, reaching the amount of 4 thousand and a few reais [...] and did not reimburse it, did not deliver the kit and alleged circumstances beyond her control, such as a bank account being blocked”, he said.
The Civil Police advises that other possible victims contact the police station to formalize the complaint. It is necessary to present proof of payment, such as PIX or transfer, in addition to conversations on social networks or messaging applications.
“We need people to look for us to hear it in a notary's office [...] Sometimes people don't look for the issue of the smallest amount and end up feeling impunity”, highlighted the delegate.
In a statement, the supermarket chain responsible for the race informed that registrations are made exclusively through official channels and that the aforementioned payments were made to a person with no connection to the organization or TBH Sports, the company responsible for the race. The company regretted what happened and stated that it was available to the authorities.

When contacted, the influencer stated that she had been intermediating discount lists for races for around three months and that she had never faced any problems. According to her, the partnership for the test was proposed by the supermarket itself.
The woman also stated that around 400 registrations were intermediated through a list and that, when trying to finalize the payments, her bank account was blocked due to issues related to the Federal Revenue Service.
She said that she has already started refunding some of the participants and that she intends to reimburse the rest. He also reported receiving threats after the case came to light.
