'Basketball was a liberation': says stepfather of athlete who died in bus accident
Basketball freed the life of Henrique Ferreira Bezerra, 17 years old, one of the members of the Juazeiro do Norte basketball team who died in a bus accident in Tauá, this Monday (15). This is what Adriano Dantas, the young man's stepfather, says in an interview with TV Verdes Mares.
According to Adriano, Henrique had been playing for the Juazeiro team for around 4 years. The athlete from the under-19 team, according to his family member, was experiencing the best moment of his life: "he was happy". Henry was an only child. The mother was unable to give an interview.
"For us family members, it is a shame to go through such a difficult and painful moment. These are young people who had a great future ahead of them and had their lives taken in a tragedy", laments Adriano.
The stepfather asks God for strength to endure what lies ahead. He clings to the memory that the teenager emerged victorious from the competition. "He did it with love."
