The number 10 is in the process of physical recovery, part of the treatment of the grade two injury to his right calf suffered in Santos' defeat to Coritiba, 3-0, on May 17, at the Neo Química Arena, in São Paulo, for the Brazilian Championship. At the time, the São Paulo club reported that the attacker received a "light blow" to the calf, which would not prevent him from playing.
The following day, Neymar was called up by Carlo Ancelotti for the World Cup. Later, on May 27, when reporting to Granja Comary, in Teresópolis (RJ), the player underwent a new examination, which found a more serious injury and not just edema, as indicated by Peixe's medical department.
The CBF doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, announced that Neymar would need two to three weeks to resume activities on the field. The deadline ends this Wednesday (17), just when it has been a month since the number 10 last participated in a match.
Everything indicates that Neymar remains absent for Brazil's second game in the World Cup. Next Friday (19), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), Ancelotti's team will face Haiti in Philadelphia.
In the 1-1 draw with Morocco, in the debut, last Saturday (13), in New Jersey, the striker watched the duel on the bench. A scenario that must be repeated against the Haitians.
