An 88-year-old woman died on Sunday (14) after being attacked by a dog in Teresina. According to the Municipal Health Foundation (FMS), the animal was frightened by fireworks during a football match and, under stress, attacked the elderly woman, causing serious injuries.
The victim was rescued by an advanced support ambulance from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and taken to the Teresina Emergency Hospital (HUT). Despite the medical care received at the unit, she succumbed to her injuries and died.

According to the FMS, teams from the Zoonoses Management were on site this Tuesday (16) to investigate the circumstances of the case. Information gathered by a veterinarian indicates that the attack took place last Saturday (13), during a Brazilian football team game.
According to the report recorded by the technical team, the dog was frightened by the noise of the fireworks and reacted aggressively, biting the woman.

The Municipal Health Foundation also informed that the animal will remain under observation by the Zoonoses Management for a period of 10 days, following the protocols established for this type of occurrence.
Chief Leonardo Alexandre, from the 4th Police District (4th DP), reported that he is investigating what happened. He did not reveal details of the case.
