The Agora Tem Especialistas Program, from the Ministry of Health, launched this Monday (15) another trailer focused on specialized women's health services. This time, patients from Manguinhos, in the north of Rio de Janeiro, will be able to have an early diagnosis of breast and cervical cancer. The mobile health unit will offer specialized gynecological consultations, mammograms, pelvic and transvaginal ultrasounds, as well as biopsies, for patients in the Unified Health System (SUS) scheduled and referred by the local Health Department.   Related news: Five more women's trucks begin serving Pink October. Research on women's health will have investments of R$60 million. Fully structured with inputs, equipment and multi-professional teams, the trailer will be positioned on the Manguinhos campus of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz). It will be open from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm. The Secretary of Primary Health Care, Ana Luiza Caldas, said that the idea is to avoid long journeys for women in Manguinhos to access care. "A woman who has any indication after visiting a basic health unit can undergo a more complex examination in the trailer and, if necessary, can do her own biopsy. It is specialized care and close to where people live." >> Follow the Agência Brasil channel on WhatsApp According to the Ministry of Health, in addition to the Manguinhos trailer, the state of Rio also recently received three more units, two for women's health, in Petrópolis and Magé, and one for ophthalmology in Campo Grande, focusing on the diagnosis of eye diseases and cataract surgeries. In Rio, women's health trucks have already passed through Japeri, Mesquita, São João do Meriti, Nova Friburgo, Itaguaí, Queimados, Morro do Alemão, Sepetiba, Maricá, Realengo, Urucânia and Volta Redonda. The imaging exams took place in Paracambi, Niterói, Três Rios, Barra do Piraí and Complexo da Penha. And the ophthalmology department passed through Teresópolis and Rio das Ostras. Trucks across Brazil Mobile women's health units also arrived in Brumado (BA), Valença (BA), Abreu e Lima (PE), Cabo de Santo Agostinho (PE), Propriá (SE) and Sapucaia do Sul (RS). Patients from the SUS in Calçoene (AP), Ceilândia (DF), João Pinheiro (MG), Mariana (MG), Aurora do Pará (PA), Dianópolis (TO) and Aquidauana (MS) are beginning to be treated in imaging exam trailers, which carry out fundamental procedures to support diagnosis and define treatments. Pato Branco (PR) received one of the ophthalmology trucks. The Agora Tem Especialistas program works on several fronts to reduce the waiting time for specialized care in the SUS, in addition to the trucks. Among the actions are joint efforts on weekends, reactivation of idle spaces in public hospitals, extension of polyclinic opening hours, hiring of specialist doctors and expansion of care for SUS patients in accredited private and philanthropic hospitals. According to the ministry, Agora Tem Especialistas initiatives contributed to the public network. In 2025, the country reached the mark of 14.9 million elective surgeries — growth of 42% compared to 2022 —, in addition to registering 1.3 million specialized exams and 14 million hospitalizations carried out by the SUS. Since they began to travel around the country, mainly in difficult-to-access places with care gaps, in addition to hub cities, women's health, ophthalmology and imaging exam trailers have expanded the supply of specialized health services, thus reducing waiting times for appointments, exams and surgeries. The mobile units have already visited more than 2,900 municipalities, serving SUS patients in all Brazilian states and the Federal District.
