Mehmet Uçum, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Legal Policies Board, stated that there is no concept of "early election" in the current constitutional system and said that elections can only be held with the decision of the President or the Parliament to renew the elections. Emphasizing that Türkiye is not in an extraordinary situation that would require a renewal of elections, Uçum stated that early election discussions are not expected to be on a concrete basis until 2028. Uçum also argued that there was no need for a constitutional amendment for President Erdoğan's re-election candidacy, and that the Parliament's decision to renew the elections would be sufficient.
