Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay stated that the CHP should be protected as a whole and that the process could be resolved by intra-party consensus and the will of the congress. "CHP is our umbrella. There is no point in resigning from the party while such a process is ongoing and there is no result yet on this issue," said Tugay, adding, "As people clustered around a worldview established by Atatürk and working in that direction, we are a whole. None of us have the opportunity to decide individually here."
