Plane crash kills grandfather and grandson in Rio Verde The plane that crashed in the rural area of Rio Verde, in the southwest region of Goiás, was found completely destroyed in the middle of a cornfield, according to the Fire Department. On the aircraft were Dirceu Antônio Zanchi, 68 years old, and Gabriel Zanchi Fernandes, 17, grandfather and grandson. A video shows the wreckage at the scene (see above). The Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (CENIPA) is investigating the cause of the accident. The accident occurred on Saturday night (13), on GO-174. The two victims were ejected upon impact and the bodies were located approximately 20 meters in front of the plane's main structure. The deaths were confirmed on site by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu). The Technical-Scientific Police team was also called in to carry out the technical work. "I suspect that they tried to land, so much so that the landing gear is sticking out of the fairing. They possibly must have touched the wings against the corn that is relatively high, tried to correct it by pulling it upwards and fell at practically 90 degrees to the runway, very close to our property," he said. Mourning In a statement, the Novo de Rio Verde party lamented the deaths. "Losing two such dear people in the same family is a pain beyond words. We extend all our support, affection and solidarity to our great friend and supporter Dirceu Zanchi Júnior", highlighted the text. Dirceu and Gabriel are being watched over at the Estrella Riovrdense Masonic Lodge, in Parque Solar do Agreste, in Rio Verde.
