Francisco de Assis Lopes dos Santos, aged 65, was arrested after the Civil Police received a report that he was packing his bags to leave the state. The man is accused of killing his neighbor Sabrina da Silva, 42, with a shot to the head during a fight over water in Guarujá, on the coast of São Paulo.
The crime took place on April 27, in a location close to Avenida Vereador Lydio Martins Corrêa. According to investigations, Sabrina owned the property next to the suspect's and the two were involved in a conflict related to the water supply. After the crime, Francisco fled the scene on a motorcycle and was considered a fugitive.

The suspect was located during the early hours of Saturday (13), in a residence in the Jardim dos Prados neighborhood, in Peruíbe (SP). There was a temporary arrest warrant issued against him by the 1st Criminal Court of Guarujá as part of the investigation into Sabrina's homicide.
According to the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP), civil police received information that Francisco intended to flee. Based on the complaint, the agents were able to locate him and comply with the court order.
According to the Civil Police, the man had been hiding since the crime and was trying to make it difficult for him to locate himself. The investigations involved gathering information, due diligence and monitoring.

At the time of the approach, the police discovered that Francisco was using his own brother's identity to avoid being identified. Three cell phones and R$3,400 in cash were also seized from him.
In testimony, the person under investigation admitted to having fired the shots that hit Sabrina. However, according to the corporation, he claimed that he did not intend to hit the victim, but rather her husband.
Francisco was found hiding in Peruíbe (SP).

According to the police report, a witness told the police that he heard the victim's husband and the suspect arguing because Sabrina's house was without water. According to her, the man had closed the hose that supplied water to the victim's residence so that only the property occupied by one of his tenants would receive water.
The witness highlighted that he removed Sabrina from the argument, but she returned alone to give the hose to her husband, who would try to fix it. A few minutes later, he heard the victim scream: "For God's sake, don't do that", followed by three gunshots.
When checking what had happened, the witness found her friend lying on the floor. According to the report, the suspect and her husband then fled.
At the time, Guarujá City Hall reported that the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was called to respond to the incident. The team provided first aid and took Sabrina to Hospital Santo Amaro (HSA), but she succumbed to her injuries and died.
