The last person who remained hospitalized after the collision that left four people dead on Avenida Augusto Montenegro, in Belém, was discharged from the Metropolitan Hospital for Urgency and Emergency. The case occurred in the early hours of May 29, hours after the match that guaranteed Paysandu its second Copa Verde title. With the discharge, all surviving victims of the collision left the hospital. This week, two survivors had already given statements to the Civil Police Homicide Division after spending ten days in hospital. According to investigations, the car driven by Pablo Henrique Farias da Silva, a member of an organized Paysandu fan base, hit people who were on motorcycles at kilometer 7 of the avenue. Some of the victims would be linked to an organized Remo fan base. Two people died at the scene of the collision. Two other victims died after being rescued and taken to health units. The Civil Police concluded the investigation and indicted Pablo Henrique Farias da Silva for qualified intentional homicide, when there is intent to kill. The driver remains imprisoned in the Pará prison system and is at the disposal of the courts. Testimonies from survivors On Wednesday (10), two survivors were interviewed by the Homicide Division. Among them was football referee and physical educator Renata Fitel, who recounted the moments experienced during the accident. According to her, the group was hit amid confusion among fans at Augusto Montenegro. After falling into a ditch, Renata stated that she was still the target of verbal attacks from people who mistook her for a member of a rival fan group. The victim was hospitalized for ten days and underwent two surgeries. The motorcyclist who was transporting her also gave a statement and is recovering from the injuries caused by the collision. Remember the case The collision occurred in the early hours of May 29, in the Parque Verde neighborhood, after a disturbance involving fans. According to the investigation, the vehicle driven by Pablo Henrique Farias da Silva advanced against a group of motorcyclists on Avenida Augusto Montenegro. The fatal victims were identified as Jhonata Mateus Maciel Chaves, Davi Souza Conceição, Helder Martins Santos and Luan Garcia Batista. The driver's defense claimed, at the time, that he was trying to escape a confrontational situation.
